Each swim meet we provide a food table for the swim team. The boosters and parents will be asked to occasionally provide items. We ask that you follow the request so that food will be convenient and meet the needs of the athletes. Provide enough for 25 people.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FOOD:
SANDWICHES: Bread can be wraps, croissants, rolls, subs, or loaf either whole grain or white. Turkey is preferred, or ham with cheese. Keep them plain so they won't get messy or soggy and cut them in to 2 inch or small portions so they can be picked up easily and are quick bites. We have two containers to hold them- we usually have about 2 serving per swimmer. They love the Kings Hawaiian sliders bread.
PASTA SALAD: Cooked pasta of any kind. Keep it light. No mayo - salad will sit out during the meet. Favorite recipe is listed below. Please package in individual containers (5-6oz cups) as it is something the kids can eat without utensils.
Recipe
1 box Rotini/Spiral Pasta - cooked per instructions on box
1 8oz block of Mozzarella Cheese slice into extremely small bites. Think a slice of cheese thickness and about 1/4 inch squares.
1 bag Hormel Mini Pepperonis
3/4 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese.
1 bottle Kraft Zesty Italian Dressing
Cook pasta per instructions on box. Drain and rinse with cold water to cool pasta - approximately 3 mins. Pour pasta in large bowl. Key is to keep stirring as ingredients are added. Add dressing while stirring to continue to help cool the pasta. Use the entire bottle. Add pepperoni in small amounts while stirring. Add mozzarella cheese in small amounts while stirring. Sprinkle in about half of the parmesan cheese while stirring. Add the remaining parmesan cheese and stir thoroughly. Place in a container and store overnight in the refrigerator. After overnight stay in the fridge, stir and divide into cups. Makes enough for 24 servings. Transport to meet in a aluminum disposable pan that will hold 12 cups. If kids will hang onto these, they can be reused to transport each week by just washing the pan.
ENERGY Bites/Protein Balls: The team loves the energy bites from this recipe. Here's our favorite recipe. For the meets, quadruple this recipe (4 times) and it is enough for the swimmers. Make the protein balls up ahead of time and freeze. By freezing the balls, they will travel much better to the meets as they are peanut butter based and will melt.
Bagels:: For early morning bus departures, bagels will be provided. If you can find the squeeze cream cheese or individual serving cream cheese, that works best. Typically about 12-18 bagels will be plenty for our team of about 30 swimmers.
SALTY: Goldfish crackers, CheezeIts, or pretzels
FRUIT: Grapes, bananas, halos, pineapple skewers, apple slices are all favorites.
TABLES/PAPER GOODS/ BOTTLED WATERS/COOLERS and ICE: The team has standard items that will be brought each meet. We list it so we make sure it's covered for transportation.
